Mac Fonts For Linux

Windows Microsoft Word software use the proprietary True Type Fonts (.ttf) that are commonly included in Windows operating systems (but aren't included on Mac / Linux operating systems). Ubuntu / Debian / Linux Mint only comes with licence-free fonts installed by default. I have noticed that font rendering has greatly improved by default in Ubuntu after 16.04. So you could wait until 18.04 if you are devoted to LTS, or try 17.04, the results may satisfy you!

You can use Font Book preferences to set the default install location, which determines whether the fonts you add are available to other user accounts on your Mac.
